Coto de Caza

Considered one of the oldest, largest and most expensive master-planned communities in Orange County, Coto de Caza started development in 1968 and was completed in 2003. This private and guard-gated community encompasses around 5,000 acres and takes its name from a Spanish term that can be translated as “hunting reserve.” Coto de Caza is located adjacent to the Saddleback Mountains, providing its residents with stunning views of unspoiled natural beauty all around.

Coto de Caza is a showcase for many outstanding homes, from single-family residences that are mostly tract homes, to exceptional country club homes and luxury townhouses, to premium condos and expansive estate properties. Single detached homes start from the mid-$400,000 and can go as high as $20 million. Attractions
The Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park is 544-acre park and wildlife sanctuary that is located in the southwestern area of Coto de Caza. Featuring groves of Western Sycamores and Coast Live Oaks, two creeks, rolling hills, canyons, and grasslands, the park is home to an abundant number of native plants and animal life, including mountain lions. The park also offers six miles of multi-use and single-track trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

Two prominent golf courses are located in the central portion of Coto de Caza, surrounded by numerous residential neighborhoods. Both of the private, 18-hole courses that were designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. are operated by the Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club. In addition, the Club also features a 44,000-square-foot Craftsman-style clubhouse, a racquet club with 10 courts and an aquatic center with three pools.
